Ally Coleman MSW, LCSW
I believe it is important to build trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship for self-growth and progress to take place. For this reason, I'd love to tell you a little bit about myself! Born and raised in the suburbs of Washington DC, my life was not without struggle. In my adolescence I often felt alone and misunderstood. Through my own personal work, I realize now that I struggled to have the tools to understand, cope with or communicate what I was feeling. With the help of my own therapist, I began to find myself and my passion.
I became a mental health professional because I hope to be there for those who are struggling in their own lives. In 2009 I graduated from Denver University in advanced standing with a Master's in Social Work and specialization in working with high risk youth. In my work with teens and young adults I believe there is great strength in allowing someone into the passenger seat to help you reach your goals. Together we can face adversity and work to overcome the barriers in your life that seem to get in the way. I use a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to therapy, meeting my clients exactly where they are at and helping to get them to where they want to be. With over a decade of experience working with adolescents and young adults I bring an expertise along with my passion for this work.
In my own time, I love to get out in nature and often with my dog. Whether skiing in the winter or backpacking in the summer, I love to travel, explore and find adventure! Finding new experiences, cultures and perspectives is important to me, especially as these seem to increase gratitude and foster a better understanding of both self and other. Through the ups and downs I value my relationships with friends and family. Have questions? Feel free to ask!
I look forward to working with you!
